Yeah, that's crazy. There is no way I'd be able to do that a week after the violent death of a relative. Although, i suppose for an actor, its probably the best way to help with coping is to get back into what you do.
Staying busy certainly helps me when somebody close dies, but I don't know...performing in a musical comedy must be tremendously difficult and seem totally ridiculous at a time like that.
So for us on the east coast, reviews won't be posted until around 3am?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I hope if someone posts their thoughts they are objective and honest. Remember the raves for 9 TO 5 when it was out of town and how impeccable people said it was and how SJB would win the Tony and it was a shoo-in to win Best Musical along with a crapload of other Tonys?
I'm going in with an open mind. Many have high expectations and expect it to be the next Hairspray. I hope it succeeds but if it has flaws, I'll be sure to point them out.
Sounds good. Based on the demo, it seems like it's not going to be as good as HAIRSPRAY. The score, or the songs I've heard at least, is/are definitely a few notches below HAIRSPRAY's.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind, Rocks. I haven't heard enough of the score to make any kind of judgement, and have no idea if the show will be as good, better, or worse than Hairspray (or any other musical, for that matter).
I haven't made up my mind about the show as a whole but based on the songs I've heard on the demo (which very well may be changed or eliminated from the score by now) I'm a bit underwhelmed by the score.
The direction, choreography, technical aspects, performances, book, etc are still obviously up in the air because I haven't seen any of them. I have heard most of the score and if it hasn't changed much I have to say I was let down. But I am still, and have been for quite some time, excited to see the final product.
I've heard a lot of demos that I wasn't too fond of but I ended up liking the final product in the show. So we'll see.
It would be good that when someone starts a thread with the title CATCH ME IF YOU CAN PREVIEW THOUGHTS, it's because they saw it and have posted their thoughts on the thread!
Hmph! Well I never...
