I assume it is a follow the bouncing ball karaoke thing.
I looked on BOMOJO and did not see if they are splitting up the grosses between the sing-a-long version and the standard version. I know that when a film is released in IMAX format as well as standard they separate the grosses. Does anyone know how this will work for Hairspray? Matteo? Marc? How will New Line know if it was worth it to do this?

PEACE.

all I know is I feared (very out loud) that just leaving it up to box office staff to make sure people were buying tickets to the version they want was dangerous, and now, reading your post, I want to vomit from frustration.

I wanted to go again last night after work but the closest showing was the "sing a long" so I skipped it. It seems that the Century Theatre is showing a DLP and a Sing along version but the DLP showings were not close to the time I finished working. I might try again today or tomorrow for the regular version or maybe I'll just hold out for the DVD.

It's like a foreign film--subtitles during the musical numbers...no bouncing ball.

And Hi Marc! Pleased and scared to be here.:) Just wanted to let you know that at least in Albany, the fact that a sing-a-long version was available was made very clear by both a yellow sheet at the box office and on the marquee and theatre entrance.

Marc- same at the theatre I saw the singalong version at- in fact, the film was listed under the title Singalong on the marquee, (not Hairspray: Singalong or anything, just Singalong), and when I asked for a ticket to the next showing of Singalong I was asked if I knew Singalong meant that "there will be words on the screen and people sing and stuff?"

Maybe they tightened it up because they were getting complaints or something, no clue, but the Regal chain is making *very* sure that when you buy a ticket to Singalong that you know what you're getting.
