the opening ballad. Starting with the door opening, and Donna "releasing" Tobias from his restraints. Then go into WORST PIES to showcase Patti. And if they really want a big ending. They could segway into "I'll come again when you have judge on the menu," and perform the ending of PRIEST. So it'll be like Sweeney is rejecting Lovett's pies when she performs WORST PIES, and then they go into PRIEST. Not sure how well that would work.
But I think the opening ballad, and Worst Pies are the best possible choices for a medley.
Just wanted to let you all know - I was wrong about that WEDDING SINGER rumour. I'd heard it a while ago, but it seems that this has changed and they will perform.

I'm hoping to see "I'm Here" from The Color Purple again, though I have a feeling that the reprise of the title song will be what the producers pick to be performed.
Would love to see Worst Pies or Little Priest from Sweeney.
I have a feeling that Sweeney will do The Ballad. It's the opening number, so it doesn't give anything any plot and it's an ensemble number. Even though only three cast members are nominated, this version of Sweeney truly is an ensemble show and I think that the producers will want to put the focus on the ensemble. If they decided to do something else, I think that Good, That's Good is the best choice- all three nominated actors are in it and everyone else is still in the scene as customers. I really don't want to see a shorted verison of A Little Priest.
i think that the pajama game will do hernando's hideaway but have kelli do the into (see also john lithgow doing the "summer in bulmont su mer (i probably butchered that)" speach to lead into Great Big Stuff
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
I really don't like the "Hernando's Hideaway" idea. Besides, it's EIGHT MINUTES long . . . at least on the recording. Personally, I wanna see "There Once Was A Man", but that's only because I'll never get to see the show.
there once was a man is my first choice too, but hernando's hideaway is recognizable and easily condensed (alot of the recording is incidental dialogue and dance break)

I would love "There Once Was a Man" - is it dynamic enough in this production to translate out of context? Not that it matters, it's sold out anyway, and it won't effect its transfer.
I think Sweeney will do part of the opening ballad, then go into Sweeney singing "what's the sound of the world out there" for "A Little Priest" and then go on from there.
Ahh! I'm thinking Drowsy should let Sutton begin with "Show Off", possibly get a bit of Beth Leavel's big song in there, and end with a bit of "Toledo Surprise".
Maybe Sweeney wiil do the Ballad and Have Mano and Patti sing the verses?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I hope they do like they did last year - with the video tribute to each show that closed. Then the other shows each performed a 45 sec or w/e it was thing.
I agree BSOBW2. I loved how the unnominated and closed shows sitll got 45 seconds. And that way Lestat could do a bit of I Want More and Allison Fischer can show off her amazingness. And then Tarzan and In my Life and Woman in White can perform a tiny bit.
As for Sweeney they will probably (hopefully) do the balad with the coffin raising and all.
