My legs and feet are DEAD. I stood there for over three hours and then had to run over to see [title of show]. But that second part is for a whole other thread.
AMAZING idea of auctioning off signed dogs! Some of them had custom attachments from their company. For example, the little mermaid "Hound" had a little tail added! In a few years, these things could become as big a hit as Broadway Bears
While waiting for a friend of mine, I was enjoying watching the insanity lol There was a guy harassing Dr Joyce Brothers. She is quite possibly one of the sweetest women ever, but instead of just asking if he could take a picture, he was acting like a jerk about it -- darting around and shoving the camera in her face.
Meanwhile, Glen Close and Priscilla Lopez walked right past and nobody even noticed. lol

...jordan, those were GREAT!!! BIG thanks! That puppy that Bernadette was holding was too much to resist! The kitten broke my heart, though, being there in that cage, and wanting out :[
I also loved the one Laura B. was holding, and the big skinny one with the straps :)
Looks like it was a successful turnout, uh? So glad for the cause, and I do hope it becomes like a big event in New York--or should I say "Mew York(ie)"-- EVERY YEAR...! You got some good ones in there...
CJR...that was funny about GC and PL going unnoticed!
I was there for a bit today before [title of show} today and had a great time. It was very sweet and I loved it.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
BJC899- so I just had to stop in to this thread and say that I had a moment of thinking you meant they had signed actual LIVE dogs... and those dogs had mermaid attachments...
anyway, that is all.
(I walked by the event today around 6 but didn't have time to stop and check it out, but I definitely want to next year!)
...it'll get here, oh, it'll get here...

I was there for a bit today. I was walking around for a bit but it was so full with people (lots of which decided they could push me around because I'm short and skinny...not cool). The dogs were so cute! There was a dog I fell in love with that was 135lbs, more than I weight! But he was just so gorgeous. I wish I could have taken one of them home with me. I had to leave as soon as Christine Baranski walked on stage to do the IN THE HEIGHTS lotto (lost) and then the [title of show] lotto (second loss). I wish I had stayed to see the rest of the show. I did get to see BOEING-BOEING and at the stage door, Baranski talked about enjoying the event.

bwaybabe2 ~ The great dane? Yeh...that was Maggie May. She had to be carried up on stage...she was not a fan of the stairs or something. They had to carry her down too.
I felt a little bad for the kitties, but ultimately I think it was better they were inside vans. They were not happy. When Bebe was talking about them, the little one kept hissing and clawing at its handler. It was not a fan of the crowds or the dogs.

...I thought it was a great dane! It was so skinny, that it was hard to tell, though. Love the name, too! I guess she's a Rod fan also, uh? Maybe she had some bad experience on stairs at some point...I hear a lot of these dogs in shelters might have been abused :{ Poor kitty!
Bwaybabe2 ~ Yeah...she was a puppy. I wanna say something like 5 months or 7 months. I know she was young. But she was skinny. And I know what you mean. I used to have a shelter dog when I lived in Illinois. Disney (hey...he started out Harrison) had been abused by a man early in his life, and he NEVER got used to them. When my parents would come and visit, I'd have to tie him to the sofa bed or radiator at night so he wouldn't go and attack my father. And apparently a lot of his bad stuff happened in or near the kitchen because certain appliances (the toaster and blender especially) would send him running to cower in my bedroom.

They had a table across from Junior's earlier in the day selling what Bernadette and BC/EFA must have cleaned out their basements...stacks of signed Annie Get Your Gun and Gypsy posters; fake Annie Get Your Gun money; stacks of flyers; Mariott Marquis Annie Get Your Gun signed keycards...
Whenever I walked by, that was the most crowded table. (I got an Aida Playbill signed by the Original Cast and an Annie Get Your Gun Playbill signed by Bernadette and Tom.) Anything for animals. Updated On: 7/13/08 at 09:04 AM
I loved it yesterday! The dogs were gorgeous, there was a table with a box full of FREE random Playbills, and a table with a bunch of signed Playbills for $20 a piece! I bought a Mary Tyler Moore signed WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY? Playbill from 1980 for $20!
I fell in love with so many of those dogs. They were all total sweethearts.
I wish we had Broadway Barks twice a year!

I hear ya, Ray! I had the same experience. I am not a fan of staring at people's backs and being packed in like sardines. I stayed for the experience but not sure I would've lasted as long as I did if it was super hot out (thankfully I felt pretty shaded)
That aside, it was great to see so many people there to support the cause. I wonder if they broke their record of how many pets got adopted last year. The dog with the casts that Sebastian introduced broke my heart. They were all so cute!
There was a dog that was presented for adoption onstage from BARC that I have actually walked a few times when I've volunteered; his name is Merle. I got so excited when I saw him. He's a big, lovable pit bull mix and while I wish I could take him home/I would love to continue walking him, I really hope he was adopted! He's great and playful and a big bundle of love.

I don't know why it's rotated...tinypic has never done that before. Sorry the photo is gigantic.

I'm thinking about legally changing my name to Lizzie Curry...
After I saw Gypsy, I went, and saw the dogs. They were very cute and some of them were so big. I saw Mario Lopez with Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, but I couldn't stay - there were way too many people and it was very hot out. I hope most of the dogs got adopted. Yeah, I think Mario Lopez wanted to leave and Bernadette Peters sort of caught him and she said something like "you want to escape?" It was cute. I got some bad pictures, Jeffreydog (the poster on here) took some for me as well because he's ten feet taller than me and was able to get a better shot, I'll post them later :)
