Thank you, nobodyhome!

Also, can anybody confirm that it is the same scrim on the tour as it was on Broadway (black with blue-like streaks)? Could you see through them? Updated On: 2/2/08 at 09:24 PM

I'll be front row in 4 hours and 15 minutes, so I'll check for you.

(Had to brag, sorry hehe... I will seriously make a mental note though.)

Thank you! I think somebody said before that it was the same scrim from the Broadway production, but from where I was sitting, it looked as if you couldn't see through the slits and that they were just painted blue.

The tuesday-friday thing always perplexed me. However, on the recordings its "Tuesday" but on the Lansbury-Hearn DVD it was "Friday" as it was when I saw the show on Broadway... Hmmm...
ETA: I think they changed it to "friday" to help the continuity of the show, to so that Kiss Me and Wait happen on the same day...

Early in the Broadway run of the revival Patti said Tuesday, it was changed later in the run. Unfortunately I can't remember how late or early in the run they changed it.

Not to further confuse things but I seem to recall a recording where Lovett says Thursday.

I prefer Tuesday. Gets a laugh.

As far as the whole curtain/ scrim discussion goes, When I saw the show on Broadway (circa March '06) there were definitely actual slashes in the main drape/ scrim thing with light coming through. I remember because my friend who saw the production with me kept commenting on how cool it was that the curtain looked like it had been slashed with a razor... and because from where we were sitting (in those two seats on the end BEHIND the last row of the balcony) we could see Michael get into the casket before the show started... which we thought was cool.

I haven't seen the tour though... so I'm really no help there...

I was thinking, and, wouldn't Friday get a laugh more than Tuesday. I mean, he says that the week is almost out and she says "It's only Friday." So, basically, the week only has one day left. By saying Tuesday, she is stating the truth. The week wouldn't be near it's end yet.

The laugh is that Sweeney is so obsessed and impatient for revenge that he is wondering why the Beadle is taking so long, when in reality it's very early in the week.

The line has always gotten a laugh in the film when I've seen it.

TWSFan4Ever: It was the same curtain. Slashes with blue in them that were a bit transparent. There were spotlights on the floor lighting it from behind, and when the cast was back there you could see their shadows moving around. Very nice effect.

I also have to comment on the speed of that curtain. I could see it literally fly up or down in about 2 seconds during the blackouts!

The other thing, which I forgot to mention, is that in the original version, at the beginning of the Pirelli scene, Mrs. Lovett says that Pirelli is "always here Thursdays."

So if Lovett says it's Friday in the next scene, that clarifies that it's the next day. And also clarifies that Sweeney is so impatient that he's freaking out that the Beadle hasn't come yet, even though it's just the next morning.

Thanks, sbflyfan! Also, did you happen to notice whenever Mrs. Lovett and realized Pirelli was dead, did she take his purse? I saw her take the hat, but didn't notice the purse. I know she had it later during "Not While I'm Around," because Tobias noticed it and said it was Pirelli's, I just didn't see her take it before Judge Turpin came in.

Yes, she did take his purse. It was real fast though around the time Pirelli put his coat on. He sort of put his hand up through the air in an arch and passed it to Mrs. Lovett, who put it in her pocket, I think. There was alot of movement going on all over the stage so it was easy to miss.

Thank you! I must have missed it. Normally she takes it once he is dead in the chest, but since there was not chest or anything, he just gave handed it to her before revealing himself to Sweeney, and she just kept it. Thank you so much for answering my questions, sbflyfan!
