This is coming to Broadway just like Yank!, bare, Rebecca, and Busker Alley were coming to Broadway.

You don't think it will actually happen?

It might. Chances are greater that it won't. But not impossible. The reception at Papermill was far chillier than that for Honeymoon In Vegas, and see how that turned out. Although some positive things were said in reviews, they weren't glowing. Why would anyone risk money to bring in a mediocre piece? (Ask same question about Gigi, Honeymoon, Amazing Grace, Chaplin, It Shoulda Been You, etc. - it does happen...)

Based solely on what I hear and read about Bandstand, there's no comparison between the two.

Next to normal was not a mediocre piece and it was profitable.

I am just saying that Next to Normal was not critically acclaimed out of town either.

I'm fairly certain the out-of-town production of N2N at Arena received rave reviews. It was Off-Broadway at Second Stage where the reviews were tepid.

Re: Bandstand... considering the logo redesign, lead casting in place and their recent photo shoot work, I'd say the chances of this hitting Broadway are pretty solid.

seems like every Broadway show that Laura is a lead in is destined to be a flop unless its a revival.

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. The most recent Grease revival was a hit?

ETA: The only original, leading role Laura has ever done in a new musical was for Bonnie & Clyde, so if your statement is based on one show, I'd say that's a pretty unfair assessment.

Was that last Grease revival a hit? It ran less than a year and a half. And did anyone think it was any good?

It was the best version we ever got of that show on Broadway, in my opinion. Sounds like you just really dislike Osnes for some reason. Hope that isn't the case.

No, Cinders, the best version of that show on Broadway was the original. That's why it ran so much longer than any of those high-school-mentality, bowdlerized revivals.

And why are you saying I dislike Osnes? I've never said anything against the gal.

Cinders was probably referring to me.

I was merely feeling bitchy and a tad sarcastic when I typed my post. I actually like Osnes a lot lol

And didn't Grease recoup?

I literally ended my sentence with "in my opinion". Its a high school school, shouldn't it be a high school mentality? Jesus.

Saw Laura in SF at Feinsteins sunday(she was beyond spectacular) and she said the show is confirmed for a fall 2016 broadway start, but of course thats what producers would tell the leads to keep their schedules clear.

This doesn't sound like a slam dunk hit on broadway based on the story, reviews and board feedback

Would sure love to see Laura get that Tony worthy role under her belt and elevate her into the award winners with her contemporaries Jessie Mueller and Patina Miller,.

Based on listening to her create absolutely breathtaking versions of every rodgers & hammerstein song, she will be a worthy heir to Kelli O'hara if they revive all the great R&H shows in 10-15 years

She also said My Fair Lady is a dream role for her and she sang I could have danced all night and it was delightful......

@broadwaysfguy: plus she replaced Kelli as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific.

Maybe in the right R&H shows. She was a horrible Nellie.

She has to reprise Julie Jordan on Broadway

I don't know if Bandstand is still coming to Broadway, maybe this is a sign that Corey and perhaps Laura have sought greener pastures elsewhere knowing that it may not come together.

Corey Cott has been cast in a pilot for Amazon tv

Do you know how hard it is to get a pilot picked up? Why is everyone doubting this is coming? It's been stated and confirmed it is transferring.

It's not everyone.

Lots of shows get announced that never go up.  (Personally, I have no feelings about it, one way or another.)

Even if the pilot gets picked up, Corey could still do the show. There are ways to schedule a Broadway show around a TV shooting schedule. They might only shooting 4-5 months out of the year, so they could just put the show in the hiatus, and then replace Corey. I don't see this being a problem.

Personally, Bandstand was one of my Top 5 shows I've seen this past year, I absolutely loved it! It got mostly good reviews, and with the time they have to work on it between the Papermill run and the Broadway run, this could be really good. It's a really good part for Laura Osnes, too, that could get her another Tony nomination, so I don't see her dropping out of this unless it falls apart, which I really hope it doesn't!

I also REALLY enjoyed the show at Papermill. I hope the show makes it to Broadway.
