I have always wondered why Disney has never produced full length theatre fair in there parks, for special night entertainment? Perhaps they have never been able to come up with a plan that works. Logistics of cost would admission be separate from park admission? etc, etc.

I thought about that as well. I always wondered why they never set up a production of The Lion King in Downtown Disney. They have a Cirque du Soleil production there that's been running for 15 years now.

"I wonder if the final product will look a bit like this"

I wonder if your signature could be any longer or more obnoxious.

I would love to see this show expanded and go to Broadway! I think the score and show are fantastic. I'd love to see what they do with it as a full length show.

I think the main reason Disney has never opened one of its Broadway productions in a sit down run in Walt Disney World, whether as a in park production or at Downtown Disney, is due to money. Not that Disney does not have to money to mount the production, but rather it would create several payment and union issues.
Would the performers be paid more than that of regular in park performers. Does Disney go through equity, as well as the other Broadway unions for the production? The most important aspect though is one Disney's perception as a Broadway producer.
When Disney first opened Beauty and the Beast, critics and the Broadway community berated as simply mounting a theme park production, and turning Broadway into an amusement park. Disney has worked hard to get rid of that image, as well as keep and maintain Broadway as an event only found in New York (Outside of the traditional Broadway tour). By mounting a production in Orlando is would erase all of that.
The final possible reason destroying the market. Lion King is the highest grossing Broadway show of all time and has made over a Billion billion dollars over the past 15+ years with people continuing to pay our $150 a ticket. If Disney were replace the Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom with the Broadway production, people would be less likely to pay to see the production on Broadway when they can see it for "free" (as part of admission into the park) at Animal Kingdom.
I think Disney will eventually open one of its Broadway productions in Downtown Disney and never in one of its theme parks, but it will not be one currently playing on Broadway.

Park creative entertainment and Disney Theatrical are two different divisions. If a full length production were to happen it would be a brand new property developed by the creative entertainment division. I know at Disneyworld they already are under Equity jurisdiction.
