  3. Hi, Hitler

Hi, Hitler is the tragically funny story of a Jewish-German-immigrant-girl who grows up in a crazy artist family in downtown New York and is fascinated by Hitler. All she wants is to be normal and to belong. But the odds are against her. And so is homeland security.

Lucie Pohl re-invents the solo show genre with her hilarious, semi-autobiographical show combining stand-up comedy, storytelling and solo performance. Told in German and English, Lucie Pohl recounts her life growing up in a wacky family of actors and writers, first in Germany and then in the US and recreates her desperate efforts to fit in wherever she goes. From rocking out to David Hasselhoff in her native Hamburg, becoming her parent’s translator in New York, to being told that despite having grown up in the US she has no more legal right to live here, Lucie Pohl takes us on a journey through the life of a young woman and first generation immigrant, with humor, wit and poetry.

New York Theatre Guide’s Jeff Myhre calls the show “hilarious” and says “there isn’t a second where Lucie doesn’t engage the audience.”
