Tidewater Players Presents: Grease

September 20-28: : The Tidewater Players is performing Grease, a musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey at the Cultural Center at the Opera House, Havre de Grace, on September 20,21,22,27 and 28. Named after the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as greasers and set in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School in Northwest Chicago. It’s senior year at Rydell High’s, and Head Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the Burger Palace Boys and the Pink Ladies sing and dances its way through such iconic songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” We Go Together,” “Beauty School Dropout”. Recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, the Everly Brothers, all the classic Girl Groups, and even Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with the legendary movie place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
