Sept 22- Oct 1st: The Tidewater Players is performing the Tony and Grammy award winner production of Beautiful, The Carole King Musical at the Cultural Center at the Opera House, Havre de Grace, on September 22,23,24,29,30 and October 1st. The shows are at 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturday and at 2:00 PM on Sundays and Saturday September 30th of those dates. Plot: before she was solid gold singer/songwriter Carole King, she was Carole Klein, a young aspiring composer from Brooklyn with a unique voice. From the Number 1 hits she wrote for the biggest acts in music to her own iconic success with Tapestry, Beautiful takes you back to where it all began—in the legendary halls of the hit-making Brill Building, in the company of Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, and the rest is musical history.

Featuring such unforgettable American pop classics as “You’ve Got a Friend”, “One Fine Day”, “Chains”, “Take Good Care of My Baby”, “Up on the Roof”, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, “The Loco-motion”, and “Natural Woman”, this Tony® and Grammy® Award- winning musical phenomenon is filled with the songs you remember – and a story you’ll never forget.

Julie is the Director of Performing Arts at The John Carroll School where she has been teaching for the last ten years. Julie has produced and/or musically directed over 85 shows in the Baltimore area, but her favorite place to be is on the stage. Local favorites include Cockpit’s Songs for a New World, Curtains, Me & My Girl (Sally), MET’s Urinetown (Little Becky), BTCT’s Urinetown (Hope), Suburban Players’ Shrek (Fiona), DCT’s Titanic (Kate McGowan), JC’s The Sound of Music (Maria), Nunsense (Amnesia), PFT’s Anything Goes (Reno). All my love to Todd, Isabelle, Tommy, Amelia, Faith, Mom, Cara, Parrishes Pardos, and Godens.

She was blessed to travel the U.S. and Canada in three national tours: Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Can-Can, and Singin’ In The Rain, before settling down to marry, raise three children and teach dance. You may have seen her perform locally in Night Watch, Bridges of Madison County, Anything Goes, The Graduate, and--here at Tidewater Players--as Emily in Elf and as Mother in A Christmas Story.
