Fells Point Corner Theatre Opens RUINED, 5/4

By: Apr. 19, 2012

Inspired in large part by the celebrated 1939 play Mother Courage and her Children, RUINED is "considered Brecht for our era. Playwright Lynn Nottage has created a great persona in Mama Nadi, a shrewd businesswoman in a land torn apart by civil war. She is caught between the violent struggle of opposing armies in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This portrait of a proud, determined woman saving the lives of other women, stands out as a powerful theatrical contribution to our changing world."

RUINED is directed by Barry Feinstein, who directed the highly acclaimed Seafarer last season, as well as FPCT's 2010 season opener, Fool for Love.   In addition, he also directed The Miser, The Homecoming and Tracy Letts' Bug for our 2009-2010 Season.   Barry is a certified Speech Pathologist, who also teaches our very popular acting workshops and works with FPCT's "Ann Street Players," (formerly known as "The Challenged Ensemble").

Featured in this production are Valerie Lewis as Mama Nadi, Tyrone Requer as Christian, Richard Peck as Harari, Yakima Rich as Salima, Dionne Johnson as Josephine, Chevee Crafton as Sophie and William Walker as Osembenga.
