Junaco share the origin story and inspirations for their new song: “When we were writing the new tunes, we were listening to a lot of Amo Amo, Big Thief, Rodrigo Amarante, Sam Evian, Broncho & Hannah Cohen. The writing style of 'Weight of the World' was inspired a lot by Mike Viola's record 'The American Egypt.''

Cheap Dreams is Small Black’s first new album in five years and is described as a “Long Island gothic surf epic.” Cheap Dreams will be released on April 9th, 2021 via their new label, the vaporwave upstart 100% Electronica. 

On the bass-heavy rock song, the duo paint a yearning portrait of a woman in a supermarket parking lot, a barely-contained desire oozing out of cotidian descriptions like: “She burns out of the market/ Plastic bags digging into wrists/ Blood stuck in her fingertips.” 

WCAR had embarked on a tour to celebrate the album's anniversary in 2020 but the tour was tabled due to the COVID-19 global shutdown. This event allows the band and its fans to mark the anniversary in a different albeit just as special way.
