As part of their centennial celebration, Universal Pictures is teaming up with NCM® Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) to bring a newly remastered version of Steven Spielberg's beloved "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" to select movie theaters on October 3. Released in 1982, "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" became the biggest blockbuster of the year, winning four Oscars® and remaining the fourth most successful movie of all time in the domestic box office.

Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth just co-hosted the premiere episode of Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show, ANDERSON LIVE. The actress, who was recently injured while filming a scene for the CBS drama series 'The Good Wife,' joined Coooper on his newly reformatted show which returned today on September 10th. According to Deadline.com, producing team CRaig Zadan and Neil Meron are working with NBC on a new, hourlong drama titled 'White House Confidential.' Featuring writing by Sri Rao, the series will be 'told from the point of view of a young female doctor who has a secret from her past.'

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Lewis Black will bring his one-man show, RUNNING ON EMPTY to Broadway this fall. Originally set to play the Richard Rodgers Theater October 9-14, two performances have now been added to the performance schedule on October 19 and 20.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the New York premiere of GIANT, an epic love story with book by Sybille Pearson and music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa. Directed by Michael Greif, GIANT begins previews on Friday, October 26 in The Public's Newman Theater at its Astor Place home and will run through Sunday, December 2, with an official press opening on Tuesday, November 13. Single tickets, beginning at $75, are on sale now.

Broadway's new musical CHAPLIN opens tonight, September 10 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). CHAPLIN is a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis. Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) have just announced full casting for the upcoming world premiere of MURDER BALLAD, the new musical by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman. MURDER BALLAD is the inaugural production of MTC's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). MURDER BALLAD will play a limited four-week engagement with previews beginning Tuesday, October 30 and opening Thursday, November 15.

Today in 2000, Cats closed at the Wintergarden Theatre, where it ran for 7485 performances. Cats is a musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. Cats first opened in the West End in 1981 and then on Broadway in 1982, each time directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gillian Lynne; it won numerous awards, including both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

The Tony Awards moved uptown for the past two years, but according to NY1, the 2013 Tonys might be heading back to Radio City Music Hall. Sources told NY1 that the Broadway League is currently negotiating a return to the 6000-seat venue for the 2013 ceremony.
