THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, will launch its Second National Tour next month in Chicago, with Nic Rouleau, direct from the Broadway company, starring in the role of Elder Price. Ben Platt will star opposite Rouleau as Elder Cunningham.

On tonight's episode of GLEE, titled, 'The Role You Were Born to Play,' the school production of Grease is underway, and Marley (Melissa Benoist), Jake (Jacob Artist), Kitty (Becca Tobin) and football player Ryder (Blake Jenner) compete to play "Danny" and "Sandy." Meanwhile, former Glee clubbers Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) return to cast the play, and Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) struggles with a difficult decision. Broadway producer Dede Harris has optioned the music catalogue of Diane Warren, one of the most popular and successful contemporary songwriters of our time, to create a new musical for the Broadway stage.

The producers of Roald Dahl's MATILDA THE MUSICAL announced today that Olivier Award-winner Bertie Carvel will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull in the Broadway production of the Royal Shakespeare Company's eagerly anticipated musical which begins performances on March 4 and opens on April 11 at the Shubert Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Carvel received rave reviews for his iconic performance and won the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

The producers of the Tony Award winning musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT are pleased to announce that Emmy and Tony Award winner Blythe Danner will join the production for 12 weeks only beginning Tuesday, December 18th and continuing through March 10th. Ms. Danner will assume the role of Millicent Winter, the mother of Matthew Broderick's character Jimmy Winter. The role is currently played by Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, who will play her final performance on Sunday, December 16.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents Bad Jews, a new play by Joshua Harmon, directed by Daniel Aukin, features Tracee Chimo (Daphna), Philip Ettinger (Jonah), Molly Ranson (Melody) & Michael Zegen (Liam). The Public Theater presents the New York premiere production of Giant, an epic love story with book by Sybille Pearson and music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa. Currently in previews at the Newman Theater, the show has pushed back opening night to November 15. Directed by Michael Greif, Giant runs through Sunday, December 2. Happy Birthday Jackie Hoffman! Hoffman was seen on Broadway as Grandma in The Addams Family. Her other Broadway credits include Xanadu and Hairspray (for which she received the Theatre World Award). Off-Broadway she has been seen in Regrets Only, Pride & Joy, Book of Liz (Obie Award), Straightjacket, Incident at Cobbler's Knob, and One Woman Shoe. Regional credits include Second City (Jeff Award), Sisters Rosensweig.

Happy Birthday Ann Reinking! Reinking came to critical notice in 'Over Here!' (Theatre World Award), and later went on to originate roles in 'Goodtime Charley' (with Tony and Drama Desk nominations) and 'Bob Fosse's Dancin' (Tony nomination). She also took over leads in 'Chicago', 'A Chorus Line', and 'Sweet Charity'. She appeared in Fosse's semi-autobiographical film All That Jazz, as well as the films Annie and Micki and Maude.

Today in 2007, Young Frankenstein opened at the Hilton Theatre (now the Foxwoods Theatre), where it ran for 485 performances. Young Frankenstein is a musical with a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks. It is based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name written by Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Brooks, who has described it as his best film. It is a parody of the horror film genre, especially the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and its 1939 sequel, Son of Frankenstein.

James M. Nederlander (Chairman) and James L. Nederlander (President) kick off the 100th anniversary of The Nederlander Organization by becoming the New York Landmark Conservancy's first father/son duo to be named "Living Landmarks," an honor that will be bestowed tonight at their annual gala at the Plaza Hotel.

A new advertisement for Madison Square Garden is creating quite a stir in the Broadway community because of its homophobic message. The poster reads: 'It's Friday night. Two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes are currently in rehearsals for DEAD ACCOUNTS, the new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien also starring Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton, and two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell. The Dramatists Guild Fund (DGF) is providing more than $40,000 in emergency recovery grants to theaters affected by Superstorm Sandy. Theaters in downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and New Jersey will receive grants to help them rebuild and move on with their seasons.

According to Deadline.com, stage and screen star Benjamin Walker, who will soon return to Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tine Roof, will lead HBO's upcoming pilot- 'The Missionary.' Walker will play a 'young American missionary who gets caught up in Cold War intrigue while helping a young woman escape East Berlin.'
