Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Happy Birthday Michael Cerveris! Cerveris, who currently plays 'Juan Peron' in Evita, has also appeared on Broadway in In the Next Room (or the vibrator play), Cymbeline, LoveMusik, Sweeney Todd, Children And Art, Passion, Assassins, Titanic and The Who's Tommy. His Off-Broadway credits include Road Show, King Lear, an oak tree, The Apple Tree, Wintertime, Fifth of July, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Blood Sports and Total Eclipse. Cerveris has also performed in regional productions of Anyone Can Whistle, Spring Awakening, Sunday in the Park with George, Chess and more.

On December 20, Disney's new biographical film about the making of Mary Poppins, SAVING MR. BANKS, will hit theatres. Starring Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Annie Rose Buckley, Ruth Wilson, B.J. Novak, Rachel Griffiths and Kathy Baker, it opens in limited theaters on December 13. In the video below, Richard Sherman, one half of the songwriting team that scored the 1964 film, chats with CBS about creating the songs and bringing them back to life now.

Signature Theatre's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) New York Premiere of August Wilson's HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED, co-conceived with and directed by Todd Kreidler, and featuring Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson begins performances on November 5, and will now play through Sunday, December 22. Happy Birthday Andrea McArdle! As 'Annie,' McArdle became the youngest performer ever to be nominated for a Tony Award as Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Also on Broadway, she starred in the Jerry Herman musical Jerry's Girls alongside Carol Channing and Leslie Uggams; she portrayed the sassy Smoking Car, Ashley, in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express; and starred as Margy Frake in State Fair; as Fantine in Les Miserables and, most recently as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

DOMESTICATED will play at the Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Andre Bishop) production of Domesticated, a new play by Bruce Norris, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. The cast features Vanessa Aspillaga, Mia Barron, Robin De Jesus, Jeff Goldblum, Lizbeth MacKay, Emily Meade, Laurie Metcalf, Mary Beth Peil, Karen Pittman, Aleque Reid and Misha Seo. Domesticated will run through Sunday, January 5 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65th Street). Opening night is Monday, November 4. The blockbuster musical, Wicked, just celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Broadway last night, October 30, a milestone achieved by only ten other Broadway productions in history. Today in 2010, The Scottsboro Boys opened at the Lyceum Theatre, where it ran for 49 performances. The Scottsboro Boys is a musical with a book by David Thompson, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Based on the Scottsboro Boys trial, the musical is one of the last collaborations between Kander and Ebb prior to the latter's death. The musical has the framework of a minstrel show, altered to 'create a musical social critique.' Despite closing on Broadway in December 2010, the show received twelve Tony Award nominations in May 2011, but failed to win any.
