Since 2009, Jerry Mouawad has staged five silent productions Apis, Cuban Missile Tango, Tick Tack Type, Stage Left Lost and Zugzwang. Now he is breaking his silence with the English Language World Premiere of one of Japan's most popular plays, Yukio Mishima's THE BLACK LIZARD, opening May 11 and playing through June 2 at Imago Theatre located at 17 SE 8th Avenue.

The tango is presented in 8cho (pronounced ?ch?) by Argentina's Brenda Angiel Aerial Dance Company, a piece named after the popular tango step. Performing at The New Victory Theater from May 4th through May 20th, the company has a whole new take on tradition.

Beginning in July of 2011, Sasha Alcott and Chris Viner started curating a series of 'WPC Presents' events in the Bangor area which are evenings of live, original music including acts from the Bangor area coupled with touring musicians. The concept was, and is to cross pollinate the Northeastern United States indie music scene with the burgeoning scene in Bangor. The series has taken place in a variety of establishments and has recently expanded to include acts from as far as Pittsburgh PA.

SonaBLAST! recording artist, Kyle James Hauser is set to headline Live From UI Sound Studios. Opening up the show is Gothic Folk act, The Changing Colors. Doors open at 7:30pm. The show begins at 8pm. Audience will be part of a live-recorded performance.

25 year-old pianist Eldar Djangirov will return to the Blue Note for the first time in three years with legendary guitarist Pat Martino. Eldar and Martino have been playing together frequently over the past year, both in quartet and duo settings. The pair initially teamed up in late 2009 for a tribute gig to guitar icon Les Paul at the Iridium in New York and later joined for the Lincoln Center 'Generations in Jazz Festival' in 2010. Over the past months, they've been playing a mix of each other's originals and standards like 'Round Midnight' and 'In Walked Bud.' 'Playing with Pat, you always have to be on your toes,' Eldar told the San Diego Anthology. 'This has been a great and very satisfying experience for me, and I think we'll keep playing together a few times each year.'

This year, Circus Vargas is bringing a touch of Broadway to the Big Top, introducing Ringmaster Kevin Venardos. Venardos melds melody with movement and adds a bit of Broadway to the Big Top. The blue and gold big top will be set up off the 101 Freeway at Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood from May 10 to 14.

Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment and Image Nation Abu Dhabi will finance and co-produce the Arctic adventure MIDNIGHT SUN. Directed by Hugh Hudson (CHARIOTS OF FIRE, GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES), the film is from a script by Hudson and Bart Gavigan. On the Square Productions presents Steven Bost's original piece THE MINERVAE this July in Athens Square Park in Astoria. This new production is part of OtSP's Astoria Free Theatre Project and will be presented to the public for free at all performances. The production will be directed by Stephen Kaliski. Creative team and cast will be announced in the coming weeks.

One Old Crow Productions will present a site-specific production of COWBOY MOUTH, the play born out of the actual relationship between America's most celebrated dramatist, Sam Shepard and the godmother of Punk, Patti Smith. This play with original music composed in collaboration with the cast and director will take place in a grungy space above the bar Lucky Cheng's in the Lower East Side and will incorporate elements from the streets of New York. One Old Crow invites the audience into Cavale's apartment, where she has been holed up with Slim. The production will be directed by Leah Benavides (The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide at The Tank; Member of the 2011 Lincoln Center Director Lab) and will feature Diana Beshara (The Love Letter You've Been Meaning to Write New York at 3LD) as Cavale and Geoffrey Pomeroy (Two Days 'til Dawn at the 2011 Planet Connections Festivity) as Slim.
