ATO Records to Release Jovanotti's ITALIA 1988-2012, 8/7May 15, 2012The 2011 Bonnaroo performance by the polyglot Tuscan artist Jovanotti (nee Lorenzo Cherubini) won over American live music fans, critics and industry alike. Among those taken by Jovanotti's artistry and charisma was the leadership of ATO Records, which will introduce American audiences to him with Italia 1988-2012, a career retrospective including four new tracks, on August 7. This is the artist's first physical album of studio recordings to be released in the U.S., and the first time much of the material has been released here in any format.
CA's The Rrazz Room Presents Valerie Simpson in Tribute to Her Late Husband Nick Ashford, 5/8-5/13May 4, 2012The Rrazz Room, a San Francisco nightclub, will present the debut solo engagement of Valerie Simpson from May 8 to May 13. Ms. Simpson wrote love songs with her husband and writing partner, Nick Ashford, including 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough,' 'You're All I Need To Get By,' 'Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)' and 'Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing.' He died of throat cancer in August at the age of 70. Valerie will perform all their greatest hits in this moving once in a lifetime concert experience. The RRazz Room has been the Bay Area 'home' of Nick & Val since its inception.

Hunter College East Harlem Gallery Presents PICTURING PUERTO RICO UNDER THE AMERICAN FLAG, 5/11-6/21May 4, 2012The Hunter College East Harlem Art Gallery will present Picturing Puerto Rico under the American Flag: The Photographs of Louise Rosskam, 1937- 1948 from May 11th - July 21st. This exhibition features the work of Louise Rosskam (1910- 2003), an elusive pioneer of the golden age of 20th century American documentary photography. The exhibition highlights her images - the photographs she created on the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico in the New Deal and post-World War II eras. The gallery is located in Hunter College's Lois V. and Samuel Silberman School of Social Work building at 2180 Third Avenue at 119th Street, Manhattan.
Eagle Theatre Revives ONE WHO FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, 6/15-6/30May 4, 2012The classic American drama ONE WHO FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST will be performed at the Eagle Theatre, located at 208 Vine Street in Hammonton, NJ, from June 15 to June 30. The play, adapted by Dale Wasserman from the 1962 Ken Kesey novel, tells the story of Randle McMurphy, who cons his way into a mental institution to avoid prison time, and proceeds to engage in a vicious clash of will with the domineering Nurse Ratched.
Casting Announced for World Premiere of THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE at Imagination Stage, 6/20-8/12May 4, 2012Imagination Stage, in a collaboration with The Washington Ballet, has announced casting for its world premiere summer production, THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE. In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life-size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production WAR HORSE.
