The Lyric Theatre Foundation Presents AFTERSHOCKS by Doug Haverty, 5/11-6/16April 17, 2012The Lyric Theatre Foundation concludes its 2012 season with a newly revised version of Aftershocks, written by Doug Haverty, and directed by JC Gafford. There will be two preview performances on Wednesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 10, and opening night is set for Friday, May 11 at 8:00. The limited engagement will continue through June 16.
THE HUNGER GAMES' Josh Hutcherson to Receive Vanguard Award by GLAAD, 4/21April 17, 2012The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, announced it will honor LGBT equality advocate and actor Josh Hutcherson at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented nationally by Ketel One and Wells Fargo. Hutcherson will receive the Vanguard Award at the Los Angeles ceremony on April 21, 2012 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, presented locally by Delta Air Lines. As previously announced, advocate, author and speaker Chaz Bono will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award.

Lifeline Theatre Announces 2012 Summer Drama CampsApril 13, 2012Rogers Park's Lifeline Theatre continues bringing educational opportunities to children with its twelfth annual Summer Drama Camps. Lifeline Theatre's Summer Drama Camps introduce kids to basic principles of performance and the kind of work that Lifeline is known for, namely story adaptation and ensemble work. Over the course of the programs, students explore popular children's books and adapt them for the stage, and parents enjoy a performance at the end. Vasily Petrenko to Lead Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, 5/17-5/19April 13, 2012Guest conductor Vasily Petrenko will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring Elgar's Cockaigne Overture and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2. Pianist Kirill Gerstein will join the Orchestra for Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2. The performances will take place May 17 and 19, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and May 20, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
The Persian Parade to Begin From Madison Avenue at Noon, 4/15April 10, 2012Kambiz Mofrad and Majid Moussavian, co-presidents of the Persian Parade Foundation, announced that the 9th Annual Persian Parade, a celebration of the culture, traditions and contributions of the Persian people, will kick off this Sunday, April 15th at 12 Noon from Madison Avenue/38th Street. The parade, a non-political, non-religious, cultural event will march downtown to 26th Street.
Political figures and celebrities in support of the Persian people are expected to participate.
