The IU Department of Theatre and Drama announces its second annual Indiana Festival Theatre season. Hosted in the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center on the IU Bloomington campus, the new season offers a slate of classic comedies and musicals for theater lovers of all ages

The Lyric Theatre Foundation concludes its 2012 season with a newly revised version of Aftershocks, written by Doug Haverty, and directed by JC Gafford. There will be two preview performances on Wednesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 10, and opening night is set for Friday, May 11 at 8:00. The limited engagement will continue through June 16.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, announced it will honor LGBT equality advocate and actor Josh Hutcherson at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented nationally by Ketel One and Wells Fargo. Hutcherson will receive the Vanguard Award at the Los Angeles ceremony on April 21, 2012 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, presented locally by Delta Air Lines. As previously announced, advocate, author and speaker Chaz Bono will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award.

In addition to the announcement of The Flaming Lips headlining at Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday June 16 (presented by AOL Canada), North by Northeast (NXNE) has announced the next wave of programming for the 18th edition of the festival, taking over Toronto June 11-17, 2012. Rogers Park's Lifeline Theatre continues bringing educational opportunities to children with its twelfth annual Summer Drama Camps. Lifeline Theatre's Summer Drama Camps introduce kids to basic principles of performance and the kind of work that Lifeline is known for, namely story adaptation and ensemble work. Over the course of the programs, students explore popular children's books and adapt them for the stage, and parents enjoy a performance at the end. In Lifeline's camps, kids learn not only how to act out stories and characters, but also how to work more patiently and respectfully with their peers, gain confidence, and express themselves better.

On April 23 the Utah Shakespeare Festival is inviting the community to celebrate William Shakespeare's birthday with cake and the final performance of the Shakespeare-in-the-Schools touring production, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Amas Musical Theatre is set to present SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL May 5-6 and May 11-13, feature The Teen Academy. Accordo, established in 2009, is a Minnesota-based chamber group. Its third season, which opened with a program of Romantic String Sextets on February 6 and closes with the May 14 offering, is presented by The Schubert Club, Northrop Concerts and Lectures, and Kate Nordstrum Projects at the National Historic Landmark Christ Church Lutheran.

Guest conductor Vasily Petrenko will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring Elgar's Cockaigne Overture and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2. Pianist Kirill Gerstein will join the Orchestra for Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2. The performances will take place May 17 and 19, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and May 20, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Kambiz Mofrad and Majid Moussavian, co-presidents of the Persian Parade Foundation, announced that the 9th Annual Persian Parade, a celebration of the culture, traditions and contributions of the Persian people, will kick off this Sunday, April 15th at 12 Noon from Madison Avenue/38th Street. The parade, a non-political, non-religious, cultural event will march downtown to 26th Street. Political figures and celebrities in support of the Persian people are expected to participate.
