Abingdon Theatre Company concludes its 17th Season with the New York premiere of SISTER MYOTIS'S BIBLE CAMP -- a new play written by and starring Steve Swift about three Southern ladies on a mission to save souls -- in previews beginning June 11, prior to its official press opening June 20 at Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announces that three musicals, BUDDY'S TAVERN, CLEAR, and EDEN, will be developed at its 2010 National Music Theater Conference under the leadership of artistic director Paulette Haupt. The Conference runs from June 26 through July 16 on the O'Neill's campus in Waterford, Connecticut.

Alley Theatre holds open auditions for Houston-based actors on Tuesday, July 20th at the Ally Theatre (615 Texas Ave.)Auditions will be for AEA and non-AEA adult actors. Auditions will be by appointment only, from 9am to 4pm, and may be scheduled beginning Monday, July 12. Children's Auditions for Alley Theatre's annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL will be held in early September.

Smokey Robinson makes his Hollywood Bowl debut on July 14th at 8pm. Celebrating his 50th anniversary in the music business, Robinson will perform songs from his latest CD Time Flies When You're Having Fun, to be released August 25th. As well, he'ss perform such signature hits such as 'Tears of a Clown,' 'Tracks of My Tears,' 'I Second That Emotion,' and more. The Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville presents ONCE ON THIS ISLAND from July 23rd to the 31st. This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale 'The Little Mermaid' garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score. It is a story of life, pain, love, grief, faith, and hope.

Bay City Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, by Neil Simon, on Sunday and Monday, August 8 & 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Auditions will be held at Bay City Players, 1214 Columbus Avenue, in Bay City. The production, co-directed by Tina Sills and Michael Dunckel, will be performed September 24-26 and September 30-October 3, 2010.

Goldblum_20010101 Following a highly successful career on Broadway, Oscar and Tony award-winning actress Mercedes Ruehl joins Jeff Goldblum in THE PRISON OF SECOND AVENUE at the Vaudeville Theatre. Directed by Terry Johnson, Neil Simon's hit comedy THE PRISONE OF SECOND AVENUE will mark Mercedes' London stage debut and will open for previews on June 30th and run until September 11th.

Two students were presented with JimmyTM Awards for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress on Monday, June 28 at Broadway's Marquis Theatre at the 2nd Annual National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA), presented by Pittsburgh CLO and Nederlander Alliances LLC. Alexandria Payne of the Tri-Cities High School in Atlanta won for her performance as ‘Ti Moune' in Once on This Island and Kyle Selig of Huntington Beach High School in Long Beach, CA won for his turn as ‘Don Lockwood' in Singin' in the Rain. Each student received $10,000 to further their education and they are eligible for four-year merit and need-based scholarship assistance to attend the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Department of Drama, Undergraduate at New Studio on Broadway: Music theatre and Acting, contingent upon acceptance into the program.

The Knitting Factory (361 Metropolitan Ave., Brooklyn) presents 'The Summer of Riesling' on July 14th with door opening at 7 PM and the show starting at 8 PM.
