Frances Quinlan of Hop Along will release her official solo debut Likewise later this month on Saddle Creek—an album that has already been named one of the most anticipated of 2020 by numerous outlets like Pitchfork, Stereogum, Consequence of Sound, Paste, and more—and today she shares the sublime and rollicking next single “Your Reply.” This track reveals a narrator approaching a loved one with tenderness, even when met with a palpable silence. “There can be a one-sidedness to even the most loving and rewarding relationships,” Quinlan says. “We will always have a part of ourselves we can't or don't know how to share. There are so many risks involved. Regardless, I think of this song as celebratory. If anything, the speaker is frustrated at coming so close to understanding another person completely, but perhaps only just missing the mark. But still what a gift that is, to come close.”

Celebrating 40 years since the release of their debut single 'Realities Of War' in 1980, British hardcore punk band Discharge are surviving pioneers of the subgenre they invented; D-beat. Having had a worldwide influence on both extreme metal and punk with their uncompromising, raw sound over the last 40 years, Discharge's political message is now relevant more than ever. Still performing globally in clubs and at festivals, the quintet are heralded as one of the godfathers of the political and anarcho punk scenes. Heavily championed by John Peel in their early years, they clocked up several chart singles and albums and went on to influence metal bands like Metallica and Celtic Frost, as well as punk acts like Rancid.

Just over a week out from the release of their new album nijimusi, OOIOO have shared new single “jibun”. Shifting between technicolor acid-tinged guitar melodies and tight rhythmic interplay, OOIOO channel the raw energy of early punk, no wave and psychedelia balanced with a masterful command of their instruments. OOIOO will be touring Europe this spring, including a set at Rewire Festival 2020 in the Netherlands alongside Hildur Guðnadóttir, Ex Eye, The Caretaker and more, with further worldwide tour dates to be announced.

Last year, Sean McConnell, Garrison Starr, and Peter Groenwald sat down together to collaborate at a songwriting retreat; and while co-writing isn't out of the norm for three established musicians, a certain type of magic and connection made the group realize that this was out of the norm. Something more than just co-writing. The connection that day sparked the three to create their new trio, My Sister, My Brother, and on March 6, the group will release their debut, self-titled EP. Written during the retreat, the album's first single “Nothing Without You,” premiered exclusively today via Billboard, who coined the new band as a “songwriting supergroup.” Beginning next week, My Sister, My Brother will tour the U.S. throughout January before embarking on a European tour in early February. Christopher Paul Stelling's new album Best Of Luck is a supremely accessible and finely crafted record that deftly merges genres. Producer Ben Harper, who has previously produced records by Mavis Staples, Rickie Lee Jones, The Blind Boys of Alabama and more, recruited an all-star rhythm section with Jimmy Paxson (Stevie Nicks, Dixie Chicks) on drums and upright bass player Mike Valerio (Randy Newman, LA Philharmonic) to lend a versatility and finesse. “I really believe this record is the intersection where folk and soul meet,” Harper says.

During the week of Dec. 23, 2019, “Live with Kelly and Ryan” rose week to week to notch its most-viewed week of the 2019-2020 season (+6% - 3.155 million vs. 2.974 million), marking its best performance since the week of Feb. 25, 2019. “Live” was the week's No. 1 Daytime talk show in all key measures, as the program matched the prior week's season-high ratings in Households and Women 25-54 (2.2 rating and 1.0 rating, respectively), while building week to week in Women 18-49 (+17% – 0.7 rating vs. 0.6 rating).

GKIDS, the acclaimed distributor of multiple Academy Award®-nominated animated features, and Fathom Events announced today that “Tokyo Godfathers,” the critically-acclaimed animated feature from director Satoshi Kon (“Perfect Blue,” “Paprika”), will return to theaters in a new 4K restoration this March. GKIDS previously re-released a remastered version of Satoshi Kon's groundbreaking psychological thriller “Perfect Blue” in 2018 in partnership with Fathom Events. ASIFA-Hollywood recently announced that Kon would posthumously receive the Winsor McCay Award, the organization's award for lifetime achievement in animation, at their upcoming 2020 Annie Awards ceremony, and a new stage play based on “Tokyo Godfathers” has just been announced by the New National Theatre, Tokyo, to be performed during the theater's 2020-21 season.
