The third annual Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival for New York City Public Schools just took place at Broadway's Music Box Theatre, hosted by Okieriete 'Oak' Onaodowan. More than 100 talented students from five New York City high schools across the city made their Broadway debuts performing from their selected winter musicals or plays.

Yesterday, March 8th was International Women's Day. While many celebrated and demonstrated for women's rights around the world with 'A Day Without A Woman,' ladies on Broadway (in the midst of a two show day) joined activist group Broadway Strong to show their support in a special way.

The 2017 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.S. playwright Clare Barron for her play Dance Nation. On March 6, New York's Playwrights Horizons hosted a ceremony honoring the winner and finalists of the prize and celebrating the 39th anniversary of the international prize.

A Bronx Tale opened on Broadway Thursday, December 1, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) and just celebrated its 100th performance yesterday, March 1st. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you photos from the festivities below!

The 21st Kids' Night on Broadway took place in New York City, yesterday, February 28th. KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY® is an annual event where kids 18 and under can attend participating Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. A Kids' Night on Broadway ticket includes restaurant and parking discounts, plus select shows will offer in-theatre activities for kids including post-show talkbacks, Kids' Night on Broadway activity books, and more.

The world premiere Signature Theatre production of Wakey, Wakey, written and directed by Lucille Lortel and Obie Award-winner Will Eno, opened just last night, February 27, at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). 

Just last night, Broadway stars gathered at the Edison Ballroom for BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF!- an evening of music and comedy benefitting the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Hosted by the one-and-only actress and comedienne Julie Halston, other participants included Orfeh (LEGALLY BLONDE), Stephanie J. Block (FALSETTOS, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD), Mario Cantone ('THE VIEW'), Robert Creighton (CAGNEY), Mandy Gonzalez (HAMILTON, IN THE HEIGHTS), Randy Graff (CITY OF ANGELS, THE BABYLON LINE), Stephanie Mills (THE WIZ), NBC's Gus Rosendale, and Lucas Steele (NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812).

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the world-premiere production of On the Exhale, by Martin Zimmerman (Netflix's Narcos), directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman (Roundabout's Violet).

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the new Broadway musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 invited fans to be a part of the upcoming original Broadway cast recording. Just yesterday, fans joined creator Dave Malloy and members of the cast to sing group chorus sections and to play the show's famous egg shakers for the original Broadway cast recording. Last night, the curtain came down on Broadway's Tony, Grammy & Olivier Award-Winning Best Musical Jersey Boys. The show ended its record-breaking, 11-year run after 4,642 performances at the August Wilson Theatre.

In the nearly 4-year-run of the Broadway smash, Matilda the Musical, there have been five sets of Matildas. 19 girls have played the role on Broadway and, for the first time ever, all five 'generations' of Matildas performed together in one exciting concert event at Feinstein's/54 Below. These precocious young ladies performed some of their favorite songs from Broadway and beyond. For four years, they have proven 'even if you're little, you can do a lot.'

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is what Norm Lewis named his show this year, his 2nd consecutive holiday booking, at Feinstein's / 54 Below.

Broadway Shines, the organization of Broadway kids serving to mobilize the Broadway community to help children and families in need, just concluded this year's coat drive. Since 2010, the kids of Broadway have been supporting GMA's 'Warm Coats & Warm Hearts' drive. The organization has already collected more than 350 coats for the cause this year and anticipates a donation tally of approximately 400 coats.

New York Stage and Film just held its annual Winter Gala honoring two titans of the entertainment industry: four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening and famed architect and Tony- and Emmy-winning scenic designer David Rockwell.

Dear Evan Hansen, the new musical with a book by Obie Award-winner Steven Levenson, score by Tony Award nominees Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, and direction by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, just began performances on Broadway last night, November 14, at the Music Box Theatre (239 W 45th St). Dear Evan Hansen will officially open on Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Roundabout Theatre Company's first new play of Roundabout Underground's newly expanded 2016-2017 season, Kingdom Come, just opened last night, November 2, 2016at the Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). This is a limited engagement through Sunday, December 18, 2016.
