The Public Theater's free PUBLIC WORKS production of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub, and directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, just finished its run at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, September 2 through September 5. IF/THEN, the original Broadway musical which reunites composer Tom Kitt, book writer/lyricist Brian Yorkey, and director Michael Greif, the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, Next to Normal, will play its final performance on tour in Atlanta this weekend. To mark the occasion, the cast put together a hilarious 'Drunk History' parody. We don't know about you, but we think this should become the Broadway community's next viral trend. The first-ever Broadway production of HOLIDAY INN, THE NEW Irving Berlin MUSICAL starring Tony Award nominee Bryce Pinkham, Lora Lee Gayer, Tony Award nominee Megan Lawrence, Megan Sikora, with Corbin Bleu and Tony Award nominee Lee Wilkof, will be directed by Gordon Greenberg and choreographed by Denis Jones. A re-imagined version of the 1921 musical SHUFFLE ALONG, one of the earliest stage hits starring, written and directed by African-Americans, opened on April 28 on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre. The musical nabbed a total of 10 Tony nominations this year, including nods for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Featured Actor and Actress, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Direction, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations. HAZELDrury Lane Theatre opens its 2016-2017 season with the World Premiere musical comedy HAZEL, A MUSICAL MAID IN AMERICA, based on the character from the Saturday Evening Post cartoon by Ted Key and the 1960s TV comedy series starring Shirley Booth. HAZEL features a book by Lissa Levin, music by Ron Abel, and lyrics by Chuck Steffan. This new musical is directed and choreographed by Tony nominee and Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse with musical direction by Roberta Duchak. TUCK EVERLASTING, the new musical based on Natalie Babbitt's beloved best-selling novel of the same name, is currently in previews at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). With direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (Something Rotten!, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon), Tuck Everlasting will officially open on Broadway on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. The critically acclaimed new play THE WOODSMAN is a uniquely inventive retelling of the origins of Oz's Tin Woodsman, currently playing at Off-Broadway's New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, NYC). This spring, The Hypocrites are bringing the award-winning, Off-Broadway musical hit ADDING MACHINE: A Musical back to Chicago where it first premiered. Directed by Geoff Button, with music direction by Matt Deitchman and choreography by Katie Spelman, this heartbreaking musical adaptation of Elmer Rice's play The Adding Machine features music by Joshua Schmidt and book and lyrics by Jason Loewith and Schmidt.
