Reg Livermore's Ned Kelly: The Musical at Union Theatre, The University of Melbourne

Reg Livermore's Ned Kelly: The Musical makes its Melbourne debut nearly fifty years after its original premiere, directed by Victorian Opera's Artistic Director Stuart Maunder AM and conducted by Simon Holt, who contributed additional music and new orchestrations for this revised version of the score. The production explores the legend of the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly, his gang, and his iconic suit of armour, asking whether he was a champion of the underdog or a cold-blooded criminal. Ethan Jones returns to the title role of Ned Kelly, joined by Maria Mercedes as Ma Kelly, Robert Grubb as Superintendent Hare, Liam Head as Joe Byrne, Chelsea Dawson as Kate Kelly, Rohan Campbell as Aaron Sherritt, Sally Bourne as Mrs Jones, and Darcy Carroll as Judge Redmond Barry. Reg Livermore AO, the creator of the musical, appears in a cameo role as Mr Tarleton, the Bank Manager.
