The Shawshank Redemption: Live On Stage at Arts Centre Melbourne

The Shawshank Redemption is a powerful stage production that places you just metres from the action.

Based on Stephen King’s celebrated novella, this gripping adaptation tells an unforgettable story of hope, friendship and the resilience of the human spirit.

Wrongly convicted of the brutal murders of his wife and her lover, Andy Dufresne is sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Shawshank prison. He forms an unlikely friendship with fellow inmate Red, discovering hope in the darkest of places. But when the corrupt Warden seeks to exploit Andy's talents for his own gain, a daring plan begins to emerge.

The star-studded cast features acclaimed television, film and theatre actor David Berry* (Outlander, A Place To Call Home, Home and Away) as Andy Dufresne, wrongly sentenced to life for the murder of his wife and her lover. Bert LaBonté (The Book of Mormon, Colin From Accounts, Cloudstreet) plays "Red" Redding – the long-term inmate who develops an unlikely friendship with Andy – and in a long-awaited return to the stage after 20 years, Rodger Corser (Doctor Doctor, Rush, The Floor) takes on the deeply hypocrtical and cruel role of The Warden.

Joining the trio are Stephen Anzo (Headless) as Nelson, Laurence Boxhall (The Mousetrap) as Tommy, Soren Jensen (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Hadley, Stephen Lopez (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Rico, Blessing Mok (Bad Blood Blues) as Entwistle, Nathan O’Keefe (The Importance of Being Earnest) as Rooster, Mark Saturno (The Normal Heart) as Dawkins, and Jeremiah Wray (Frankenstein) as Bogs Diamond.

*Please note, David Berry will not be performing 18–21 February.
