The Texas Chili Queens at The Long Center

Pollyanna Theatre Company will bring the powerful and empowering true story of some of the states most iconic women entrepreneurs to life starting Nov. 8 in The Texas Chili Queens. This rich and flavorful play will be staged at the Rollins Studio Theatre at the Long Center, from Nov. 8 to Nov. 17. Tickets are available at the Long Center box office.At the heart of The Texas Chili Queens is the story of entrepreneurial women facing obstacles in the 19th century and the modern-day fifth grader who finds inspiration from their legacy. San Antonios legendary chili queens brought their flavorful chili and colorful personalities to Alamo Plaza for generations before being pushed out of business by cultural changes. A present-day elementary schools Heritage Day assignment provides the perfect opportunity to discover this compelling history. This story resonates on so many levels, said Producing Artistic Director Judy Matetzschk-Campbell. Its particularly appropriate in Austin, which has one of the highest percentages of women entrepreneurs in the country.
