“there is a tale to be told, but not the tale of the battle, but rather the tale of the day after…”
Set in the immediate aftermath of a devastating civil war, David Rush’s vibrant adaptation of Sophocles’ classic play follows fiercely brave ANTIGONE as she faces impossible choices and consequences, choosing between honoring the law of the land or the memory of her fallen brother, all the while existing at the whim of capricious and vengeful gods.
Adaptation by David Rush
Directed by Elizabeth V. Newman
Starring: Julia Bennett; Courtney DeBerry; Beau Paul; Martinique Duchene-Phillips ; Bailey Ellis ; Mike Ooi & Josh Kok.
**Please Note: Thursday, October 12th is a Preview Performance
Sophocles Antigone undergoes no less pleasant a fate in this excellent production. How lucky was I this Friday the 13th? Much more so than Sophocles’ ANTIGONE. Just as she has for centuries, ANTIGONE is working her way through another version of a doomed demise in David Rush's adaptation of Filigree Theatre's production of this classic Greek tragedy.
Austin-based independent theatre company, The Filigree Theatre, are back with their Fifth Anniversary Season entitled 'The Woman in the Story,' beginning with their Fall production of 'Antigone,' written by Sophocles and adapted by David Rush.
