DICTIONARY OF THE VULGAR TONGUE at Alliance Theatre

DICTIONARY OF THE VULGAR TONGUE is a sharp satire that spans three centuries, exploring themes of power, class, and gender. Written by Alanna Coby and directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, the play unfolds in a pristine Connecticut living room where a gathering of affluent women confronts their assumptions when a young working-class mother arrives in distress. This thought-provoking production interrogates the fragility of civility and virtue, exposing the violence inherent in language and the complexities of compassion. Blisteringly funny yet unsettling, it challenges audiences to consider who gets to speak and whose choices are honored.
