Noll, Denman, Michaels & More Set for Broadway By the Year - 1932

The Town Hall's critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year's®11th Season continues with The Broadway Musicals of 1932 a year that brought us famous shows by musical theater icons such as Kern and Hammerstein (Music in the Air), Irving Berlin, (Face the Music), Cole Porter (Gay Divorce) and Dietz and Schwarz (Flying Colors), among others. Produced by The Town Hall, The Broadway Musicals of 1932 is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel. Siegel takes the audience on a musical travelogue, exploring the history of the Great White Way and providing social anecdotes while showcasing the beloved hits and lesser-known gems from the golden age of Broadway. The show is directed by Scott Coulter and choreographed by Jeffry Denman, who bothperform in the show as well. Some of the legendary songs on the bill are "April in Paris," "Night and Day," "Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee," It's Only a Paper Moon," "Brother Can You Spare a Dime," "Soft Lights and Sweet Music" and "I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues."

Featured in the cast are Christiane Noll (Tony Nominee for Ragtime), Jeffry Denman (Drama Desk nominee for Yank!), Meredith Patterson (White Christmas), William Michals (South Pacific), KendRick Jones (Scottsboro Boys), Jason Graae (Nightlife Award winner), Scott Coulter (Nightlife Award winner), Bill Daugherty (multi-award winning vocalist) and Carole J. Bufford (11 O'clock Numbers at 11'O Clock at Feinstein's).

"I especially love doing the Broadway by the Year concerts that single out a year in the 1930s," said Siegel, "because the music is always sospecific to the era. And we had some of Broadway's greatest composersworking in 1932. I always say that audiences come in to shows fromthese early years thinking they won't know any of the music because they don't know the shows. Instead, they come out all aglow from hearing so many famous songs. Broadway, after all, was the hit-maker of the nation's popular music."

Broadway By The Year ® is part of The Town Hall's 90th Anniversary season that also includes Don McLean (March 29th); Romulo Larrera Tango Ensemble (April 29th); Peter Yarrow and Friends (May 15th), Linda Eder (May 20th); Kelli O'Hara (June 3rd); Easy To Love: Andrea Marcovicci & Jeff Harner Sing Cole Porter (June 9th); and 2011 Grammy® Award recipient Dee Dee Bridgewater's To Billie with Love a celebration of "Lady Day" (June 24th).

Celebrating its 90th Anniversary Season, The Town Hall was built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, and began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates where "American Town Meetings on The Air" was broadcast live for 25 years. Over the decades, the stage has been
graced by Eleanor Roosevelt, Carl Sandberg, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and MiLes Davis.
