Tour Dates Announced for Pippin Tour, Starting 10/10

Tour dates have been announced for the upcoming tour of Pippin, which recently played the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT. 

After playing a one-night engagement in West Point, NY on October 7th, the tour will begin in Wilmington, DE on October 10th.

The show will play:

Oct. 17-22-- Wharton Center in East Lansing, Michigan
Oct. 24-Dec. 3--the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto
Dec. 5-10--the Hershey Theatre in Hershey, Pennsylvania
Jan. 2-7--the Orange Country Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California
Jan. 11-15--the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Pippin ended its run at Goodspeed on September 29th. Featuring James Royce Edwards (Altar Boyz, Hairspray) as Lewis, Micky Dolenz (The Monkees, Aida) as Charlemagne, Andre Ward (Saturday Night Fever) as the Leading Player, Barbara Marineau (The Women, Beauty and the Beast) as Berthe, Shannon Lewis (Sweet Charity) as Fastrada, Teal Wicks as Catherine, and Joshua Park (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) in the title role, the production also features Sara Antkowiak-Maier, Jason Blaine, Stephen Brotebeck, Jason Dougherty, Dell Howlett, Ryan Patrick Kelly, Karl Maier, Lauren Marshall, Candy Olsen, Vincent Rodriguez III, Molly Tynes, and Dana Winkle, among others.

"A surprise waits around every corner as Pippin wanders through the worlds of politics, love and war before finding his true calling — home and family," state notes for the show, which includes "Magic to Do," "Corner of the Sky," "With You" and other songs in its score. Gabriel Barre (The Wild Party) directs, and Mark Dendy has choreographed Pippin.

The show boasts sets by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Liz Prince, and lighting by Kevin Adams. Michael O'Flaherty provides music direction, Mark Hartman conducts, and Michael Crotier and David Chiapeta  handle orchestrations.

With a book by Roger O. Hirson and Fosse and a pop-infused score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell), Pippin won the 1973 Tony Award for Best Musical when it opened at the Imperial Theatre on October 23rd, 1972 to run for 1, 944 performances. The original production, which was staged by Bob Fosse, starred John Rubinstein as Pippin, Jill Clayburgh as Catherine, Irene Ryan as Berthe, Leland Palmer as Fastrada and Ben Vereen as the Leading Player (with the latter winning a Tony Award for Best Actor).
