Table Pounding Music presents the USA Album Launch Concert & Celebration of Tagg-Petersen Duo's Where Worlds Collide tonight, October 2nd, 2017 at Yamaha Artist Salon in Midtown Manhattan. Come early for a South African wine reception at 6:30pm; concert from 7-8pm.

Tagg-Petersen Duo is comprised of Kathleen Tagg & Andre Petersen, two of South Africa's most celebrated pianists, one eclectic classical and one jazz artist, in a unique collaboration. The two met at the University of Cape Town in the mid 90s, and have been performing together since 2015.

Drawing from the rich sonic tapestries of classical music, nuances of South African jazz and traditional musics from sub-Saharan Africa, this duo explodes the concept of what two pianos can sound like, making them sound like a bass guitar, goema drum, marimba and uhadi - plus mixing fully composed scores with improvisation in a bold, vital and extraordinarily entertaining mix.

After two highly successful tours all over South Africa, they now perform and launch their album Where Worlds Collide in the USA. In addition to Monday's performance in NYC, Tagg-Petersen Duo will be presented by Sage Chamber Music Society at Smith College on Sunday, October 1st at 3pm in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Where Worlds Collide will be widely released on October 20th and available at Table Pounding Records, iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, CD Baby, TIDAL, Google Play and more.

Table Pounding Music is the home of Table Pounding Records and Table Pounding Presents. Founded by clarinetist, composer, bandleader and cultural visionary David Krakauer in 2010 with the release of Abraham Inc.'s Tweet Tweet, Table Pounding Records is home to a collection of recordings that blur boundaries and genres. At the heart of Table Pounding Music is a constant search for identity and a distinctive voice. All Table Pounding projects explore the idea of identity from multiple angles, in the knowledge that we are all connected, but that in each person's individual quest to find their place in the world, we see our own quests reflected across cultural boundaries.

The album Where Worlds Collide by South African piano team Kathleen Tagg and Andre Petersen officially drops on October 20th. This will be a digital release only to complement the South African hardcopy CD release on Ossia Records. Where Worlds Collide joins the 2010 Abraham Inc. album Tweet Tweet which topped the funk and Jewish music charts, the much-loved 2014 The Big Picture release of music from the acclaimed show of the same name, and David Krakauer's highly acclaimed 2016 album Checkpoint with Ancestral Groove, which received a rare 5-star review from DownBeat Magazine.
