Studio A.C.T. Offers Special Intensive Audition Workshop

In addition to its exciting winter session curriculum, Studio A.C.T., American Conservatory Theater's evening and weekend training program for adults, will offer a special intensive audition workshop taught by veteran casting director Meryl Shaw and acting coach Andrew Hurteau over two weekends in January. Designed specifically for actors planning to audition for graduate school or for the 2011 Theatre Bay Area general auditions (or other spring auditions), this workshop will take place on three separate days: On day one, Shaw and Hurteau will make sure students are working with appropriate audition pieces; on day two, they'll give students honest, specific feedback and plenty of pointers to work on. Two weeks later, on day three, they'll bring it all together as they take a look at each student's progress and put some finishing touches on their audition. Enrollment is limited to 14 students, so interested applicants should sign up early to guarantee a spot. The intensive audition workshop will take place January 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (day one); January 9 from noon to 3:30 p.m. (day two); and January 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (day three). The total cost for all three classes is $225.

Registration for the audition workshop-and for the Studio A.C.T. winter session- begins today, December 1, 2010. The new session features invigorating approaches to acting, voice, audition technique, improv, and on-camera work. New courses include a mask workshop, a stage combat course, and a song-and-dance class featuring the contemporary musical. Studio A.C.T. offers a special discount of up to $150 for its winter session: when students sign up for two courses, they save one-third off their third class. (Offer valid for three-hour courses only; discount applies to the least-expensive class; discount does not apply to intensive audition workshop.) Students also get access to A.C.T.'s extensive on-site script and theater reference library, and small class sizes guarantee personal attention from instructors.
