Legendary performer/writer/producer Smokey Robinson will join the company of the Broadway musical hit CHICAGO as Billy Flynn from April 24th through June 11th at the Ambassador Theatre, 219 West 49th Street.

Smokey Robinson's influence spans four decades and his achievements include 36 Top 40 hits, a Grammy "Living Legend" Award, berths in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters' Hall of Fame, the Soul Train "Heritage Award", and numerous other honors. In 2003, Smokey was given the National Medal of the Arts Award by the President. A founding Motown executive, Smokey began his career fronting "The Miracles", as well as composing tunes for other Motown acts (most notably his work with "The Temptations'" classic "My Girl"). With "The Miracles", his songwriting credits include rock standards like "Shop Around", "Going to A Go-Go", "You've Really Got a Hold on Me", "I Second That Emotion", and "More Love". His other classics composed for Motown artists include "Get Ready", "The Way You Do The Things You Do", "You Beat Me To The Punch", "My Guy", "Don't Mess With Bill", "I'll Be Doggone", "Just To See Her" and "One Heartbeat". Entering his fourth decade, Smokey Robinson refuses to rest on his laurels. "My songs are written about love", says Smokey, revealing the deceptively simple secret of his success. "It's an everlasting subject. Love always has significance and it never goes out of style". Now, Broadway will get to love Smokey as he steps into the role of Billy Flynn, attorney for the notorious killers, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.

CHICAGO, winner of 6 Tony Awards, is currently Broadway's longest running revival now soon to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. It is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by Ann Reinking.
