Savion Glover Directs and Choreographs in Tribeca Fest.

Tony Award winning performer Savion Glover will direct and choreograph a presentation of a new musical, TIMMY THE GREAT, as part of the Tribeca Theater Festival. Two special presentations will take place on Tuesday, October 26 at 3pm and 7pm at the Tribeca Film Center, 375 Greenwich Street, 2nd Floor. TIMMY THE GREAT follows the story of nine-year-old King Timmy as he fosters a new radical movement that makes children into grownups and grownups into children as the entire planet goes topsy-turvy!

Produced by Sandra Hochman, in association with Edward Pierce and Ron and Doreen Tal, TIMMY THE GREAT is based on the book King Timmy the Great, written by Sandra Hochman and Tad Danielak, which was inspired by a fable written by the famous Polish writer Janus Korchak who was killed in the Holocaust. The musical's book is cowritten by Sandra Hochman and Stevie Craig, lyrics by Sandra Hochman and Gary Kupper with music by Gary Kupper.

Savion Glover was nominated at age 12 for a Tony Award for his performance in Black and Blue and won the Tony for his choreography for the groundbreaking Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. He made his Broadway debut as the title character in The Tap Dance Kid; he appeared on Broadway in Jelly's Last Jam opposite Gregory Hines. He co-starred in the film Tap with Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. On television he has appeared in Dance in America: Tap!, The Academy Awards, Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame, Sesame Street, The Kennedy Center Honors, Savion Glover's Nu York, Monday Night Football, Savion Glover's Stomp, and Slide and Swing: In Performance.
