Silicon Valley Shakespeare transforms Much Ado About Nothing into a joyous Hindu wedding filled with music, dance, and color, as a South Asian American family prepares for a love marriage. Directed by Kunal Prasad and featuring predominantly South Asian artists, the milestone production finds a natural meeting place between the traditions at the heart of a Hindu wedding and the beloved Shakespeare comedy. Bollywood-inspired music and choreography by SNJV bring another dimension to the celebration as Shakespeare's romances, misunderstandings, and deceptions unfold throughout the wedding festivities. The production has also been selected as a San Francisco Chronicle Datebook pick.
The creative team includes scenic design by Mitchell Ost, costume design by Lisa Claybaugh, lighting design by Paul Skelton, and hair and make-up design by Melissa Mei Jones. Photos by Evelyn Huynh.
Much Ado About Nothing runs select Thursdays through Sundays through September 6th at Sanborn County Park in Saratoga, as part of SVS' 2026 Sanborn repertory season with Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.
