Turtle Shell Productions has announced its next show, a trilogy of one-acts by Norman Beim entitled Stranger Than Fiction; 3 Plays Based on Fact. Performances begin Thursday, October 12th at 8. The official opening is Saturday, October 14th at 8.

The first one-act is A Love Story, which tells the story of a poignant long-distance relationship between a young girl in Poland and a middle-aged storekeeper in Prague which began during World War I.

The second is A Queen's Revenge, in which an older gay man is deserted by his younger lover and seeks retribution.

The third play, The Deserter, is based on the story of Private Eddie Slovik, the only American soldier shot for desertion during World War II. The show won the Samuel French Short Play Award.

Norman Beim is a prize-winning playwright, author and veteran actor. His comedy-drama Success ran for more than a year in The Netherlands with two major Dutch stars, and was followed immediately by a long running production of his modern comedy, Pygmalion and Galatea.

Later this season, Turtle Shell will present On a Darkling Plain, a play about the agony and the passions of people during the blacklisting era. It was awarded the David James Ellis Memorial Award by Theatre Americana and has been well received in a number of regional productions.

Performances continue Mondays through Fridays at 8 and Saturdays at 2 and 8 through October 27th. All tickets are $18.00.
