New York Philharmonic to Present Free TAKE A BREATH Wellness Workshops This Spring
The events will be facilitated by Oneika Mays, mindfulness expert and author, and Sylvia Földes-Berman, supervisor of creative arts therapy at Northwell Health.
The New York Philharmonic has revealed two additional events this spring in Take a Breath, the Orchestra's series of free workshops led by mental health and wellness experts and featuring performances by Philharmonic musicians.
Both of the following events — presented in collaboration with Northwell Health and The Abyssinian Baptist Church — will be facilitated by Oneika Mays, mindfulness expert and author, and Sylvia Földes-Berman, supervisor of creative arts therapy at Northwell Health:
Love and Kindness: an exploration of the characteristics of love and what connects us to each other; featuring vocalist Asha Lindsey of the Unsung Collective and Philharmonic Associate Principal Clarinet Benjamin Adler, violinist Yulia Ziskel, Associate Principal Viola Rebecca Young, and Associate Principal Bass Max Zeugner; Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Mindfulness and Deep Listening: an exploration of the wellness benefits of music; featuring Philharmonic violinists Kuan Cheng Lu and Sharon Yamada, violist Vivek Kamath, and cellist Sumire Kudo; Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
These free workshops — which will be followed by instrument tryout sessions led by New York Philharmonic Teaching Artists — take place at The Abyssinian Baptist Church, located at 132 Odell Clark Place in Manhattan.
