New York City Center To Host Free ‘Your Community Day’ With Performances, Workshops and More
The all-ages event returns May 16 with Ballet Hispánico, in·corpus, Street Dance Ambassadors, and hands-on arts experiences from 10 AM to 3 PM.
New York City Center will present the return of Your Community Day, a free annual event for all ages, as part of the 2025 – 2026 Season. Starting at 10am (through 3pm) on Saturday, May 16, audiences of all ages can participate in a full slate of performances, activities, and workshops. The day’s highlights feature Ballet Hispánico, Brotherhood Sister Sol, in·corpus, City Center’s Street Dance Ambassadors, Artistic Freedom Initiative, and more. Part of City Center’s Education & Community Engagement programs, Your Community Day welcomes even more New Yorkers to experience the arts for free.

BALLET HISPÁNICO| 10:00am
Immerse yourself in Caribbean culture by learning traditional dances from different countries, led by Ballet Hispánico Community Arts Teaching Artists.
PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE | 12:00pm
Sit back and enjoy song and dance performances by featured members of the City Center Community, including partner schools, community organizations, and other special guests.
STREET DANCE FREESTYLE SESSION | 1:30pm
A joyful improvisation led by City Center’s Street Dance Ambassadors that encourages self-expression.

EMBODIED MOVEMENT CELEBRATION | 10:00am – 12pm
This workshop, led by Satsu Holmes of in·corpus will guide participants in an exploration of their relationship to self, others, and the natural world through movement informed by Holmes’s work in hula and dance as an essential human practice
CAJON DRUM CIRCLE | 12:30 – 2:30pm
A guided drum circle led by Jeremy Smith to introduce you to the sounds of flamenco.

FAMILY STORYTIME | 11:30am and 1:30pm, Studio 3
A 30-minute interactive experience led by City Center Teaching Artists that invites our littlest movers (ages 0-5) and their caregivers to explore the joy of theater through music, movement, and storytelling.
