Featuring a performance of AGA-BOOM followed by an afternoon of food and festivities, The New Victory Theater Family Benefit has become an annual holiday season highlight.

On Saturday, December 4, 2004, New York's ultimate theater for kids and families will hold its annual New Victory Theater Family Benefit to raise funds for The New Victory Theater Education Program and The New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps Program.  Owned and operated by The New 42nd Street®, The New Victory opened on December 11, 1995 as New York City's first nonprofit professional theater dedicated to young people.

Today The New Victory Theater is one of the City's most respected cultural institutions and is "credited with having pioneered a new, sophisticated vision of children's entertainment" (Time Out New York).

The New Victory Family Benefit includes:
*  1:00 pm  -  Performance of AGA-BOOM at The New Victory Theater (209 W. 42nd Street)
*  2:45 pm  -  Food and clowning around at the New 42nd Street Studios (229 W. 42nd Street)

Individual tickets for The New Victory Family Benefit are $225 and $500, with gala tables at $2,250 and $5,000.  Tickets can be ordered by calling 646-223-3082.

Proceeds from the event will support The New Victory Theater Education Program and The New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps Program.  Both of these programs are integral to The New Victory Theater's mission to provide a comprehensive introduction to the performing arts, building both a future audience as well as potential dedicated members of the workforce.  The New Victory Theater Education Program - featuring daytime education performances/talk back discussions with the artists, curriculum guides and Teacher Institutes - encourages schools to use the Theater as an extension of their classrooms. The New Vic/New 42 Youth Corps Program provides paid professional job training and work opportunities for high school and college age students. These programs require substantial subsidy and contributions provide essential support.

AGA-BOOM
From the boundless imagination of director, creator and Cirque du Soleil veteran Dimitri Bogatirev (Alegria and O) comes an explosion of unbridled silliness known as AGA-BOOM.  Rooted in the distinctive style and universal language of clowning, this uproarious, interactive spectacle stars Bogatirev along with wife Iryna Ivanytska (Alegria, O), Philip Briggs (formerly of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus) and eight-year old Anton Bogatirev.  These multi-talented artists transform The New Victory Theater December 3, 2004 - January 16, 2005) into a frenzied funhouse filled with sophisticated slapstick, outlandish chases and audience participation that erupts into the biggest paper fight to hit 42nd Street.  Accompanied by the infectious, orchestral dramatics of Vasily Bogatyrev's original score, AGA-BOOM makes its New York premiere just in time for the holidays with a unique and "literally riotous" (L.A. Times) alternative to the season's typical fare.
