National Comedy Theatre (NCT) will celebrate its upcoming Armed Forces Entertainment Tour with a special send-off show on Tuesday, August 2nd at its recently-opened theater at 347 W. 36th St. (between 8th and 9th).

The tour, which marks the third time that NCT has been selected to participate in the Armed Forces Tour, will includes 22 shows for US troops stationed in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

"We're very honored to embark on this tour," said Gary Kramer, NCT Artistic Director."Our job is to help lift the spirits of our troops and remind them that they are remembered by those back in the USA.  Plus, I don't think they could afford Carrot-Top."

The NCT will present a 90-minute improvisational comedy show based completely on audience suggestions.  "Two uniformed teams meet on stage in a head-to-head battle for laughs. A referee oversees the action and calls 'fouls' such as the 'groaner' (if a person tells a pun that makes the audience groan) and the dreaded 'brown bag foul,' called if a any player commits a verbal or physical obscenity, in which case a brown paper bag is placed over the offender's head," as the show is described in a press article.

After performing nearly two decades on the west coast, the NCT's new midtown theatre now allows the group to tickle funny bones on both coasts, as well as at affiliated locations around the country.

The doors will open at 7pm for a complimentary appetizer buffet and the performance starts at 8pm.  For tickets (which are $15 and $12 for students), call the National Comedy Theatre at 212-629-5202 or visit www.manhattancomedy.com
