MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be featured on ESPN this Thursday March 30 when the Scripps National Spelling Bee airs its semi finals and finals. The semi finals air from 2-5 PM on ESPN2 and the finals air from 8 - 10 PM on ESPN.

The Tony Award nominated MATILDA THE MUSICAL and the Scripps National Spelling Bee both celebrate the power of words, learning and education. The Bee will open with a segment shot on stage at Broadway's Shubert Theatre featuring a monologue performed by Tony Award nominated Bertie Carvel as the terrifying Miss Trunchbull. The monologue was penned by MATILDA THE MUSICAL's Tony nominated book writer, Dennis Kelly.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation's largest and longest-running educational program. The purpose of the Scripps National Spelling Bee is to help students improve spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all of their lives. The 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee will feature 281 champion spellers, ranging in age from eight to 14. MATILDA THE MUSICAL opened to rapturous reviews last month and has received 12 Tony Award nominations including one for Best Musical; each of the four girls sharing the title role will receive a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater.
