As BroadwayWorld first reported and broke the story on this past Saturday evening, the star of the national tour of LEGALLY BLONDE Becky Gulsvig, who has received rave reviews for her performance as Elle Woods across the country, sustained a broken toe following the performance on Thursday, January 8th and will be out of the show for the next six weeks.

Two actresses familiar with the role of Elle Woods have stepped up to share duties during Ms. Gulsvig's recovery. Tony-nominated star of the Broadway production Laura Bell Bundy and star of the MTV reality series, "Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods" Lauren Ashley Zakrin will alternate in the role in East Lansing, MI (Jan. 13-18, 2009, at the Wharton Center), St. Louis, MO (Jan. 20-Feb. 1, 2009, at the Fox Theatre), Austin, TX (Feb. 2-8, 2009, at the Bass Concert Hall) and Houston, TX (Feb. 10-22, 2009, at the Hobby Center).

"It saddens us that Becky will be out of the show for 6 weeks. However, with proper rest and care, she will make a full recovery. Under these circumstances, we are extremely fortunate to have these two amazingly talented actresses, who know this role inside and out, ready at a moment's notice to hit the stage," said producer Mike Isaacson.

Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
