LCT3 Announces Special Event THROW ME ON THE BURNPILE AND LIGHT ME UP

Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 has announced a special event - THROW ME ON THE BURNPILE AND LIGHT ME UP, an 80-minute solo show written and performed by Lucy Alibar and directed by Neel Keller. BURNPILE will have 3 performances only - Thursday, December 6; Friday, December 7; and Saturday, December 8 - all at 7pm at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Screenwriter, playwright, and novelist Lucy Alibar shares extraordinary coming-of-age stories in BURNPILE, set in the sometimes dangerous and often magical Florida panhandle.

Lucy Alibar is best known for her Academy Award-nominated script Beasts of the Southern Wild, which she co-wrote with Behn Zeitlin, based on her original play Juicy and Delicious. The film was distributed by Fox Searchlight, and won the Narrative Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Humanitas Award. Other recent projects include Troup Zero starring Viola Davis (Amazon); Bat Kid (for Julia Roberts and New Line); The Secret Garden (Disney and Guillermo Del Toro); and Swan Lake (Mark Johnson and Disney). She was proud to work on the 2016 Election PSA "We Trump Hate" for Missing Pieces, Tucker Walsh, and Samantha Levin. She teaches at universities across the country including NYU, University of the South, Pace University, and UNC Chapel Hill. She has been fortunate to be supported by The Sundance Institute, Hedgebrook, Ojai Playwright's Conference, and New York Theatre Workshop.

In addition to Burnpile, Neel Keller directed the world premieres of Eliza Clark's Quack, Julia Cho's Office Hour, Jennifer Haley's The Nether, Kimber Lee's different words for the same thing, Dael Orlandersmith's Until the Flood and Forever, and the American premiere of David Greig's The Cosmonaut's Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union. His productions have been mounted at many theaters including The Public, New York Theatre Workshop, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum, Kirk Douglas Theatre, Goodman Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Long Wharf Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, A Contemporary Theatre, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Portland Center Stage, and Ireland's Abbey Theatre. Neel is currently an Associate Artistic Director at Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles and a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and the Directors Guild of America.

LCT3 is dedicated to producing the work of new playwrights, directors, and designers and engaging new audiences. André Bishop is Producing Artistic Director of Lincoln Center Theater. Evan Cabnet is Artistic Director of LCT3.

LCT is currently producing the ongoing run of its award-winning production of Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady, directed by Bartlett Sher, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater; The Hard Problem, a new play by Tom Stoppard, directed by Jack O'Brien, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater; the LCT3 production of Plot Points in our Sexual Development, a new play by Miranda Rose Hall, directed by Margot Bordelon, at the Claire Tow Theater; and is a co-producer of the Broadway production of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, a new play by Aaron Sorkin, also directed by Bartlett Sher, at the Shubert Theatre. Later this season, LCT will produce Nantucket Sleigh Ride, a new play by John Guare, directed by Jerry Zaks, beginning performances Thursday February 21 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater; and the LCT3 production of Marys Seacole, a new play by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, beginning performances Saturday, February 9 at the Claire Tow Theater.
