LAKE WATER Set for IRT Theater, Begins 9/17

Neighborhood Productions has announced that the world premiere of Lake Water, written by Troy Deutsch and directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances on Saturday, September 17, at 8pm, at IRT Theater, 154 Christopher Street. Lake Water, which features Troy Deutsch and Samantha Soule in the cast, is scheduled to open Thursday, September 22, at 8pm.

Lake Water follows Iris and James, two small town high school seniors who become estranged after their best friend suddenly commits suicide. Then one "crapping pathetic Friday night," James calls Iris in distress, and she meets him on the dock where the two untangle the painful events of their pasts, address their blossoming sexualities, and struggle to face the limits of their lives. Full of humor and hope, Lake Water sheds light on an all-too-common small town American tragedy.

Troy Deutsch was the standby for Jason in the Broadway production of Rabbit Hole (Manhattan Theatre Club). His play Pussycat was produced by the University of Utah (Kennedy Center ACTF regional finalist). His play Lake Water was developed at The New Group (New Group/New Works Reading Series). He has written many short plays and is currently in post-production on a short film he wrote, directed, and acted in No One Told Us with Cherry in the Spoon Productions. Daniel Talbott's most recent work as an actor includes the Theatre for One project in Times Square and around NYC, The Merry Wives of Windsor (Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis), Master Builder (Irish Rep), Rocket City (Alabama Shakespeare Festival), Tartuffe (McCarter Theatre/Yale Rep), Marat/Sade (Classical Theatre of Harlem) and the feature film Pretty Bird, Dreaming American and The Big C on Showtime. Recent directing work includes Much Ado About Nothing (Boomerang), Squealer (Lesser America at Theater for the New City), The Umbrella Plays (the teacup company/FringeNYC - Overall Excellence Award: Outstanding Play and at The Tank), Keep Your Baggage With You (at all times) (Theater for the New City), Footprint by Mac Rogers (part of +30NYCfor Red Fern Theatre), Afterclap by Daniel Reitz, Birthday and Nobody, both by Crystal Skillman (Rising Phoenix Rep at the Seventh Street Small Stage), and Fall Forward (Sitelines/River to River Festival produced by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council). His play Slipping was produced at Rattlestick with Piece by Piece Productions (named one of the top ten plays of 2009 by The Advocate), premiered in Chicago at The Side Project, and was part of the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. It was published last year by Dramatists Play Service and was a finalist for a 2011 Lambda Literary Award for Drama. His play What Happened When was produced at HERE Arts Center and The Side Project and was published as part of the Plays and Playwrights 2008 anthology. He received a 2011 Theater Hall of Fame Fellowship, a 2007 New York Innovative Theatre Award for directing, a Drama-Logue Award, two Dean Goodman Choice Awards and a Judy Award for acting, and was also named one of the 15 People of the Year 2006 by nytheatre.com. He is a member of MCC Theater's Playwrights' Coalition, of last year's 24Seven Lab, and of TOSOS. He is a graduate of Juilliard and of Solano College Theatre's ATP, and teaches at the Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA). He is one of the literary managers of Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and the artistic director of Rising Phoenix Rep (recipient of the 2007 NYIT Caffe Cino Fellowship Award).

Neighborhood Productions is the theatrical Production Company of Dorit Avganim and Amanda Feldman who between them have more than ten years of producing experience. Formed in December 2010, Neighborhood Productions mission is to give artists the tools they need to bring their artistic visions to the stage. The set design for Lake Water is by Eugenia Furneaux-Arends; costume design is by Tristan Raines; lighting design is by Brad Peterson; sound design is by Janie Bullard. The production stage manager is Hannah Woodward; the assistant director is Ashley Monroe. Amanda Feldman of Neighborhood Productions is line producer.

Lake Water plays the following schedule at IRT Theater, 154 Christopher Street: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday through Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2 pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm.
