Ford's Theatre Society today announced the Ford's Theatre cast for the new musical Come From Away, directed by Christopher Ashley. Come From Away is the breathtaking new musical that played record-breaking engagements in San Diego and Seattle-and now it is coming to Ford's Theatre. Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, this is the stunning production from Tony®-nominated directorChristopher Ashley (Memphis) that the Los Angeles Times calls "an affecting and stirring new musical."

On September 11th, 38 planes with 6,579 passengers were stranded in a remote town in Newfoundland. The locals opened their hearts and homes, and hosted this international community of strangers for a week-spurring unexpected camaraderie in extraordinary circumstances. Featuring a rousing score of folk and rock, Come From Away honors the better angels of our nature, revealing hope and humanity in a time of darkness.

Come From Away runs September 2 to October 9, 2016, at historic Ford's Theatre. Tickets are now on sale and range from $20 to $73. Discounts are available for groups, senior citizens, military personnel and those younger than 35.

Come From Away is made possible by Lead Sponsor Exxon Mobil Corporation and Production Sponsor Siemens Corporation. The 2016-2017 season sponsors are The Home Depot and Chevron.

Review: COME FROM AWAY Comes To Broadway On Tour at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Photo
Once in a while, an event occurs that is so viscerally powerful that you will always remember exactly what you were doing when it happened.  Most people over 70 will remember what they were doing when John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  People my age remember the Challenger disaster vividly (I was in my 6th-grade classroom watching the launch on t.v.).  Arguably even more tragic are the events that transpired on September 11, 2001.  From the dust of the wreckage, though, came hope and a unified country.  Come From Away is a story of that hope and unification.  It makes its Sacramento premiere this week in a special engagement that had been postponed since 2020.
