Cape Rep Theatre has announced its 2026 season of award winning plays and musicals, including both a world premiere and a Cape Cod premiere musical.
Cape Rep Theatre has announced its 2026 season of award winning plays and musicals, including both a world premiere and a Cape Cod premiere musical. There is a lot happening on the campus in 2026, and audiences are invited to attend performances throughout the year. The season is dedicated to Founding Artistic Director Robert R. Troie, a designer, director, and theater visionary.
The Indoor Theater season opens with 9-Ball (May 6 – May 31), written and directed by Art Devine, a 1960s drama about two young men who swap identities with life-altering consequences. Summer continues with The Real Inspector Hound (June 23 – July 19) by Tom Stoppard, directed by Holly Erin McCarthy. August will feature the Cape Cod premiere of the Tony nominated musical Girl from the North Country (August 5 – August 30), written by Conor McPherson with music and lyrics by Bob Dylan, directed by Maura Hanlon with musical direction by Scott Storr. The fall season includes The Fall of the House of Usher (September 30 – October 25) by Gip Hoppe, with music by J Hagenbuckle. The season concludes with the world premiere musical The Hundred Aker Wood (November 12 – December 13), by Macklin Devine, Paddo Devine, Seamus Devine and Maura Hanlon. The theatre will also expand matinee offerings throughout the season.
The Outdoor Theater will host Cape Rep's Summer Children's Series, featuring a new installment of Puppets, Paul and Mary Sing Songs by the Seashore, created by puppeteer Mary Wilson and singer/songwriter Paul Kehoe, with performances Tuesdays at 10 am from June 30 through September 1.

The year is 1967. Over a game of pool, two young men swap identities. One goes to prison; the other to war. Inspired by true events and pulsating with the sights and sounds of the late 1960s, 9-Ball was Art Devine's first play at Cape Rep. First produced in 2001, it returns for its 25th anniversary. Not recommended for children.

Considered by many as “nearly perfect,” this is Stoppard at his wittiest. Cape Rep originally produced this work in the Outdoor Theater in 1994 under the direction and design of Founding Artistic Director Bob Troie, and it returns with inspiration from that original design.
