Iconic stage and screen performer Diana Rigg is poised to make a significant mark in the hotly anticipated third season of HBO's Epic adult fantasy tentpole series Game of Thrones if these first glimpses of her in action are any indication.

Rigg portrays Lady Olenna Tyrell - otherwise known as The Queen Of Thorns - who is one of 27 primary protagonists of the sprawling third season of the mega-hit series, based largely on the first half of the massive third volume in George R.R. Martin's saga A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, titled A STORM OF SWORDS.

In this first series of released photos, Rigg wears an appropriately regal light blue gown complete with a uniquely striking hat befitting of a lady of her estimable ranking.

In another image, she walks through a lush wooded area with royal advisor Varys (Conleth Hill).

Rigg is a renowned international actress perhaps best known for her leading roles in the 1960s TV series THE AVENGERS and as a Bond babe (and his only wife) in ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, in addition to countless theatrically-related roles, ranging from Charlotte in Hal Prince's misguided 1977 film adaptation of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC to starring in Cameron Mackintosh's revised West End FOLLIES in 1987 to her Tony Award-winning role in MEDEA on Broadway in the 1990s to 2011's PYGMALION in the West End, co-starring Rupert Everett, and many other appearances.

GAME OF THRONES Season Three premieres on March 31 at 9 PM on HBO.
