Eve Ensler Interviewed on 'Downstage Center,' Oct. 6

The American Theatre Wing and XM Satellite Radio will present an interview with Eve Ensler, actor, author and activist, on their weekly theatrical interview show, "Downstage Center," on XM's On Broadway (XM Channel 28). Ensler will appear as the special guest on Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m. The show will repeat on Saturday, October 7 at noon, Sunday, October 8 at 7 p.m., and Wednesday, October 11 at midnight.

On September 12, Ensler's new political drama, The Treatment, opened at The Culture Project in New York City; it will play through October 22.

Ensler won an Obie Award for penning The Vagina Monologues and is the founder and artistic director of V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. The Vagina Monologues has been translated into more than 35 languages and has run in theaters worldwide, including sold-out runs at Off-Broadway's Westside Theater and on London's West End (2002 Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment).

Ensler's other plays include Conviction, Lemonade, The Depot, Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man and Extraordinary Measures.

She is chair of the Women's Committee of PEN American Center and is an executive producer of What I Want My Words to Do to You, a documentary about the writing group she has led since 1998 at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women. The film had its world premiere at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, where it received the Freedom of Expression Award
