Composers Concordance Will Present COMPCORD AT HOWLAND
NYC and Beacon musicians unite at Howland Cultural Center for a boundary-breaking new music celebration.
Composers Concordance and Howland Cultural Center will present COMPCORD AT HOWLAND on Friday, June 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, New York.
The concert will bring together musicians from New York City and Beacon for a program combining jazz, contemporary classical music, improvisation, poetry, and experimental performance. Organizers describe the event as a cross-Hudson artistic exchange highlighting collaboration between the two creative communities.
The program will feature works by Dan Cooper, Brad Hubbard, Debra Kaye, Gwen Laster, Gene Pritsker, Judi Silvano, and Bill Ware.
Performers include Gwen Laster on violin, Franz Hackl on trumpet, Brad Hubbard on baritone saxophone, Charlie Hall on bass trombone, Bill Ware on vibraphone, Gene Pritsker on guitar and conductor duties, Lee Jeffryes on percussion, Roger Aplon as poet and reciter, and Twinkle Burke as reciter.
According to the announcement, the evening will include improvisational performance, spoken word elements, and genre-crossing compositions drawing from jazz, chamber music, world music, and avant-garde traditions.
The concert continues Composers Concordance’s ongoing mission of presenting collaborative and experimental new music programming. The event will also be livestreamed on the organization’s Facebook page.
