Christopher Sieber Delays MATILDA Debut Again Following Injury; Will Join Cast 'Later This Month'

Christopher Sieber's debut as the tyrant Miss Trunchbull in Broadway's Matilda the Musical has once again been delayed.

In February, Sieber fractured a bone in his hand during rehearsals, and was believed to begin performances next week, on Tuesday, April 8. Representatives for MATILDA have now confirmed to BroadwayWorld that Sieber will need additional time for his hand to fully heal.

The statement reads: "Christopher Sieber fractured a bone in his hand during rehearsals for Matilda the Musical and had hoped to join the show on Tuesday April 8. He needs more time for his hand to heal and will assume the role of the child-hurling Miss Trunchbull later this month."

His official first performance date is expected to be announced in the near future.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL, produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, opened in April 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44thStreet) to rapturous reviews and has been celebrated on 10 "Top Ten" lists for 2013. The production has received four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for each of the four girls who shared the title role, two Outer Critics Circle Awards, five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.
