The Tony Award® winning Matilda the Musical will close on January 1, 2017, after playing 37 previews, 1,555 regular performances, and one Actors Fund performance. The production opened on April 11, 2013 (previews began March 4) at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). A feisty little girl is still bringing audiences to their feet at the Shubert Theatre every night. Matilda the Musical, based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl, just reached a Broadway milestone yesterday, celebrating its third anniversary.  MATILDA just celebrated its 1000th performance with who else, but creator Tim Minchin, for a special conversation at New World Stages. At the special event, Jessica Shaw of EW moderated a Q&A and Minchin performed a few Matilda tunes at the piano. BroadwayWorld was there for the special night and you can check out photos below!

The producers of the Tony Award-winning Matilda The Musical announced last week that the original Broadway cast recording will be produced by Michael Croiter and Christopher Nightingale for Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label and will be released digitally and be available at the Shubert Theatre beginning Friday, September 27, 2013.
